Dagaz and Othila

Thoughts on the last rune of the elder futhark? Some place dagaz/daeg there and others place Othila.

My tendency is to place othila there as an answer to the initial fehu... moveable wealth and inherited wealth..... that which can be traded, and that which is inherited.... the position of othila at the end seems to 'give' the futhark as a bloodright to the runester. As far as Dagaz at the end, the idea of balance and ending in light is powerful, bringing the futhark into the daily routine of of our lives, giving the Runes their due place every day..... but.... I'm more drawn to othila at the end of the Elder.

Thoughts, arguments, death threats, or marriage proposals?

theres historical evidence for both ways. for me, othala at the end is right. home of the ancestors, the torus geometry of the rune, combined form of Ing (the eartth) and Kenaz (creativity). makes most sense to me. i dont know about marriage, but you can be the tribes Sæhrímnir ;)

I can see both at the "end". For me personally I've used Dagaz as it is more sequential, and works for me.

I use Othala, because it's older... not by much, but it's the order used in the first recorded occurence of the Elder Futhark rune rows...

But I used Dagaz for a really long time...

I guess it depends on whether you're using the song of the Futhark for a spell of change, or a spell of firmament and reminding...

I prefer to have Dagaz at the end due to it's transitional qualities. The Futhark has always struck me as a continuous circuit, always feeding back into itself. Having Dagaz at the end instead of Othila continues that circuit.
